Special heat exchanger
Compressed gas coolers · Flue gas heat exchangers · Gas heaters · Forced-air coolers · Gas/gas heat exchangers · Double tube heat exchangers
Special heat exchangers are usually designed as a combination of several basic heat exchanger types, e.g., shell-and-tube, finned or plate heat exchangers. To meet special requirements, the large surface area of finned heat exchangers is combined, for example, with the pressure resistance of shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
All heat exchangers are manufactured according to the applicable codes and, if required, also supplied with the corresponding country-specific test certificates
Six unit types for special requirements
We specialize in designing and sizing heat exchangers that must meet special requirements, and we are able to offer an optimal solution for practically any thermal engineering problem. By combining several basic types, special requirements when cooling or heating gases and liquids – such as very large temperature differences, high operating pressures, large thermal or mechanical loads, and high corrosion resistance – can be reliably met. Applications for operating pressures of up to 800 bar or temperatures from −260 °C to +800 °C, special materials with high corrosion resistance, or large thermal loads can thus be reliably realized. Where corrosion requirements are demanding, the heat exchanger type and choice of materials are determined on a project-specific basis.
Typical fields of application: power plant engineering, machinery industry, paper industry, chemical industry, process engineering and environmental technology.
Type GB / RB – gas/gas heat exchanger
For heat recovery between heated, contaminated or aggressive exhaust air and fresh air or process gas. High specific heat transfer rate, absolute gas tightness and low pressure losses.
Type GBR – flue gas heat exchanger
Recooling or waste heat recovery of flue gases as well as heating of process or fresh air. As a plain-tube coil, it can also be used with higher dust loads, for example in waste incineration.
Type LBG – forced-air cooler
Recooling of air and gases using water, water/glycol or direct expansion. Typical applications: drying of gases, separation and recovery of solvents from exhaust air.
Gas heater
Heating of process and fresh air as well as industrial gases, sized according to the plant’s process data.
Type KO – coaxial heat exchanger
Cooling and heating of liquids and gases with smaller volumetric flow rates. By design, it works as a pure counterflow heat exchanger, even with small temperature differences. Used, for example, for cryogenic applications with helium at −260 °C or for compressed gas up to 500 bar.
Compressed gas coolers & double tube heat exchangers
Air-cooled compressed gas coolers of the KKG series are used to recool natural gas, air or chemical gases. Depending on the application, single-stage or multi-stage designs are available. Thanks to the special manufacturing methods, operating pressures up to 800 bar and high cooling duties can be achieved. The KKG series is described in detail under the finned heat exchangers. The GS series for the safe separation of critical media pairs is described under the shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
Special designs
Customer-optimized units for special tasks, for example steam coils for washing machines, cooling coils for cleaning machines, thermal oil heaters for dryers or condensers for sterile plants.
